Optus sucks...don't ever go there...

Either there are more and more idiots working these days or they are all in their early 20s with a very bad attitude who don't seem to care anymore. I was looking at changing my mobile phone provider and since optus has provided a service that I can't complaint, i thought I'll give them a chance and let them offer me whatever deal they can give me instead of jumping on the next cheapest bandwagon. (not too sure if i'm the only customer out there anymore!!!)

So anyway, I was asked to speak to a retention manager. Funny how i have to pay 22cents to call and speak to them when they are trying to retain my business? Spoke to someone in sales who is the rudest person ever who said -

'If you want to switch providers, you can just walk through their door and sign up there'

She has no idea that optus even have a retention department or that a retention manager exists and she's in sales! Either she has resigned and trying to piss every single customer off or optus is that desperate to even employ someone without customer service experience who don't know how to listen. Spent another 22cents to call the complaints line and they recorded my complaint and got me a retention manager who can't even match other providers' deal. So optus has a retention department who is trying to retain customers and yet, don't have to the power to do anything to retain customers. They can't even match other provider's deal, let alone beat them!

Pathetic.....

I've found their phone system to be mind-numbingly annoying at times too. Once their call centre's phone system actually hung up on me after I'd been on hold for ages. Optus sucks!

Fuck it its all a gamble right, most of the times, you get good people in the world then a small majority is a bad seed, in your case you probably was a fucked up customer who meet a fucked up customer service rep, takes 2 to tango bitch.

optus are fucking awful. they're internet service is appauling, & those they employ to work in their call centers are the rudest motherfuckers i've ever spoken to over the phone, they dont listen, you get stuck on hold for ages, then they think they can argue their way out of their own incompetance.

& anyone who says most people in general are good people.. mate, what are you on. its a dog eat dog world.

Fuck optus, I they fail to do a proper credit check when I do a transfer of ownership, they continue to debit my bank account because the other party had been decline! GOD DAMN IT! I pay the other guy to take over my contract and I gave him that phone free, and now I still have to pay for his fucking bill because OPTUS FAIL to do a credit check correctly! And I'm already out of Australia for good! FUCK YOU OPTUS!

I have called so many times and complained about being treated like a moron - I have a Mastes degree in IT. This one accused me of being saracstic when I was just running through what I should do next time. I said I wasn't being sarcastic and tried to run through 'next time' he wasn't convinced - I'm over Optus, I've been with them years, not anymore. Sick of speaking to people O/S...

Optus are USELESS - I rang and had my email and phone upgraded to the Fusion $99 plan and found myself in a world of pain. They somehow de provisioned all my email addresses and managed to lose all my email in 3 of my 4 webmail accounts. I have stored important emails in these Webmail accounts for over 4 years.

As I only use a work PC to access the internet I dont download to a local email client and stored all my email in my web mail, this included photos of a new baby, my marked and returned assignments from my Masters degree and many business contacts I just cannot get back. As mentioned by one of the smarter call centre operators, this data is priceless!!!

It has taken over 10 days to be told finally there is no way of restoring my data, they have no backups, and unfortunately there is nothing we can do. I asked for some form of answers or compensation and was told by a team leader they can offer me a one of payment ....... of $20.

After being a loyal customer for 5 years and having lost all my data as no fault of my own this is an insult. I was passed to the Team Leaders manager who told me the offer from his staff member was good and if it was him he would not offer me even $1 as there is no policy for any credit for such an issue!! I now have to wait another 48 - 72 hours for a more senior manager to call me back.

After losing years of my email as well as over 10hrs of phonecalls to useless call centre operators (not all) I am less than happy. I have been promised many return calls and never received one. I thought I was actually calling a Customer Service department!!

This is absolute crap!! Optus has NO customer service, NO care factor and after being told NO backups or Disaster recovery for any of their Webmail is running a very primitive service.

BEWARE of their crap service, incompetent staff and make sure you have all your email backed up as I have be 100% screwed by these clowns. I am also yet to speak to 1 Australian person who can give me any form of compassion or any real answers. I am always diverted to Indian call centres. India should keep to what they are good at and stay with Cricket not Customer Service centres!!

Optus if you are reading this and have half a brain you can find out who I am from this, how about some proactive calling, some customer service and some real answers!!

I have been an OPTUS customer for over 10 years. On Saturday I went into the OPTUS Store at the GALLERIA SHOPPING CENTRE in Morley and took out two new 24 month contracts. Yesterday, I went back to the store and was treated with such contempt by the MANAGER that I will never take out another contract with OPTUS again.

The way that this MANAGER treated me yesterday has guaranteed the GALLERIA OPTUS STORE the worst public relations nightmare that I can cause. I will post negative messages about OPTUS and the GALLERIA OPTUS STORE on every forum that I can access, and tell everyone I meet now and in the future to avoid business dealings with OPTUS like the plague. We will see who has the last word now!

Yes yes I know your disgust. I was a happy aanet customer for 3 yrs, I think I had 4 dropouts in that time. I got talked into a Optus 2 yr plan by a housemate, and I am now suicidal. You ring support and get some indian dude that knows no more about broadband than my 10 yr old daughter. They ask you to do plug this in unplug that tests and so on, ffs. They blame my line or filters or modem, BUT WHY was there NEVER a Problem with AANET. .Fingers crossed I have not been dropped out for nearly 4 hrs. 9 more mnths, just 9 more. I hope the time goes fast.

OK this is why you get shit service with Optus.
I was a call centre fualts rep for optus. When I started we could make the changes and do credits back when necessary. Now we need to get the "OK" from our team leaders for almost anything we do. This has happened because Optus management and team leadersare to busy lossing senior staff through bullying and office politics. You will find that most reps have only been with optus less than a year. Those that are over two years will usually do any credits on the spot regardless of the SLA's.
I was with Optus for 2 years. I left because my team leader was more interested in KPi's to make her look good to her boss than help the customer she was payed to do. Other than that she was the office nazi/stalin. She had spies watching everyone reporting back any gossip or conversations had. I left cause the stress of the job gave me a peptic ulcer. I've had to stop working for 3 months to get well again.
So when you find your talking to a rep that seems to know jack-shit feel sorry for them for they will probably be thinking "how the hell do I get out of this place".
The jobs sucks the life out of people, fuck all call centre jobs.

FUCK OPTUS!! i called them up to say ive already paid my home phone bill.. the man i was speaking to (indian of course) was the most stupid and ignorant person ive ever spoken to.. as i told him i already paid the bill, he says i have another new bill to pay.. for a minute i thought wtf! i told him that i wait until they send me the new bill through mail, which they've alwayz done.. he talkz really fast, i dont get a single word he says.. as i tell him loud and clear 'IVE JUST PAID THE LATEST BILL!' he then threatenz me in going into credit debt if i dont pay the new bill that i didnt know about! swearing without even caring i ask him if i could speak to his manager.. he HANGZ UP!! Afta that happend i moved on from optus and now with dodo..

How about this guys,, last march, i got a call from a telemarketer asking me if id like to change my plan, so i let him do his job and explain, and before he can even finish, i apologies and ask if he can call back coz am doin something, he said yes and i hang up, but the darn guy didnt call back, the next day, i got a package from OPTUS with a phone and a change of plan PREPAID to POSTPAID,, without my knowledge my plan was changed. and since i dont want any trouble, i called them immediately about this, it was so simple and which end up throwing me to other department, and end up with nothing but a saying theyll call back, after a while i got restless and call back again, and still no problem was solve and then i try again which end up nothing, another week passed and i talk to some and they told me they will resolve the issue and just WAIT FOR OUR CALL so i did,, and as i ask what should i do, still all they can say was wait for the calls.. then after a month a guy called on to me and told me about "welcome to POSTPAID" and i said to him that please check the supporting documents coz am waiting for an resolution and not a welcoming report. and he told me he'll follow up and again i ask whar should i do. and all they said was WAIT FOR OUR CALL.. a month pass by and yes i did used my service since i dont really know wats happening, plus NO ONE EXPLAINED TO ME ANYTHING, plus the fact that i cant do any credit load bec my plan was chnge. so i used my services. and before this happnd, i already have my credits so i am qualified to what i am able to do. another month passed and am getting so restless about it, i emailed them to see it things will work out, and so again response will need to be waited and after a while all they can ask me is, wait for it. and now, they replied and the only thing they said was, i need to get a sim and report them to transfer the service. with that,, i was also ask to pay for all of those calls and txt that i made through out the time,, and telling me that it was MY FAULT that i did it,, oh my fucking god, how did it became my fault when this was made by there team from the 1st place,, and how would i know that i shouldnt be doing calls and txt's if no one ever told me.. i really wonder how the fuck that could it be my fault when NO ONE BOTHER TO TELL ME,, I never ask for this and now i have to pay for there mistakes? yeah right, they didnt got any credit card info in me and i even dont know where they billed the darn thing,, so i wonder how will this go on,, they want my payment? look for me.. fucking optus..

I rang 2 months ago to request for unlocking code and been following it up every week and up to now I haven't got it. They keep saying they will send it maximum 48 hrs but didn't happen. I've spent heaps for my phone bills because they always put me on hold for 10-20 mins. Sometimes their stupid customer service reps put me on hold and didn't cone back to me maybe bacause they don't really know how to solve complaints! They really sucks! Employing dumb ass!

I went over my data allowance by 738MB. Cost me an extra $110.77 on top of the monthly bill.
Second time it has happened over the two year contract. I was ropeable! Rung them up & they reduced the amount owing by $50. I asked if I could start one of the new 120GB packages but they said it would be an extra $99 to transfer.
I was still so angry after being with them for around 6 years I cancelled my contract.
Now I find out they have the best deal $64.95 per month. $30 worth of calls & 120GB.
Have spent around three hours trying to get reconnected. Aggghhhh I hate telcos.

My parents have being with optus since they moved here from England, it has now being 19 years with optus.

They are horrible and we cant move internet service because they are the only internet that reach us other then Telstra which just is like freaking internet for the riches. My parent went onto the internet to look for a new plan for optus and there was a plan there that was $90 which includes phone connection and also 120gig of internet usage. He rang up and was on hold for 30 mins and after them 30 mins they told him that THIS PLAN IS FOR NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY! HORRIBLE SERVICE AND NO LOYALTY TO THERE LONG TERM CUSTOMERS! Wankers...

they are the most retarded company i have ever dealt with my Nokia c6 01 was replaced 3 times in first few months then was stolen while traveling i had insurance on phone but could have got it covered by travel ins at no charge but i rang Optus they said to retain warranty will have to claim through them which cost me $150 this phone was now worse than any id had before i am now told its not a warranty issue now its insurances prob but insurance tell me its a new phone with new warranty. After several attempts to take back for repair they have now replaced touch screen and returned phone more fucked than it was before can barely use it cant even call with it at best of times. I was told they would replace it if it wasnt replaced through warranty Wtf so i paid 150 for what? I was offered 100 credit to compensate. Idiots! My phones worth 390 plus ive paid all bills even though 90% of time ive had to use a prepaid handset which i had to buy because loan phone was as bad as my faulty phone. CUSTOMER RETENTIONS MY ARSE!

2 years a broken node and shit internet 3 days and it will be fixed 10 months later oh 2 days more and it will be fixed still waiting 6 months free internet yay not still no useable internet. found out not fixing the node cable internet being faised out adsl only till they get to installing fiberoptics :(. last month of free internet still not working. i had better internet on dial up 10 years ago then i have now. so hate optus. had 5 techs out and the last one said have to suffer theres nothing they can do. 8 years of service with them and this is what you get.
all the new offers and they cant even give good service to old faithful customers. have mobile too on contract may aswell put it in a draw and not use it. what a joke of a company. really people stay away from optus nothing good can become of a company who dont care for its faithful customers. a change is on its way. i really hope optus hears these complaints and either fold there business or make the fixes it requires

Optus is a totally rubbish organisation. I wish they would got back to Singapore, where they can offer Singaporeans rubbish service. Singapore is meant to be a service oriented country, yet this firm is little better than Vodafone.

Shit coverage, lies and bullshit.
Data on phone unuseable in most cases and so slow when it does work you just give up. After wanting to get out of contract I'm told they are improving the service and they'll give me 3 months free ... that was 5 months ago and it's still fucked. No sign of HUGE blackspot on coverage maps before I sign up but later they admit there is one right through my area. False advertising, misleading information and unuseable services. They should be shut down.
